Save lives together! - an exceptional campaign with Irie Maffia
There are more than 7000 cardiac arrests perceived by the ambulance - the chances of survival are significantly increased if someone at the scene is able to provide CPR to the victim promptly, while waiting for paramedics to arrive. With starting CPR immediately and with the help of a defibrillator, 60 percent of CPR attempts could be successful, which means saving thousands of lives.
Irie Maffia, one of Hungary's biggest headliner bands collaborated with the Hungarian National Ambulance Service, Semmelweis University's Department of Anaesthesiology and Intensive Therapy, the Hungarian Resusciation Council and with ELTE Apáczai Csere János Practice School in order to popularize CPR among the youth.
During the campaign, medical professionals and the members of Irie Maffia provide quick and practical CPR education at festivals and youth events. The official track of the CPR is Irie Maffia's 100 bpm song Wake up!, since the beat fits the correct rate of chest compressions. The song is dedicated to those performing CPR and it is performed live at the events, giving the audience musical and educational experience as well.
The campaign has been launched in the summer of 2017, debuting at Belvárosi Fesztivál and Budapest Park, continuing until the spring of 2018.
